Besides your Stripe invoices, the Accounting page gives you two financial reports for your connected Stripe account: one that explains what moved through your Stripe balance, and one that ties those movements to the payouts that landed in your bank.
Where to Find Them
Two Tabs on the Accounting Page
Go to Settings > Accounting (in the Finance group of the sidebar) and use the tabs in the top right: Balance report and Payout reconciliation. The other tabs are Documents, covered in the Stripe Invoices article, Tax, covered in the Tax Management article, and — for the Owner only — Xero and QuickBooks, described at the end of this article.
Prerequisites
Like every Finance page, the reports need a connected, fully onboarded Stripe account (see the Connect Stripe article), and they open for an Owner and for an Admin. Staff and Sales users never see the Finance group.
Balance Report
What It Shows
The Balance report breaks down everything that moved through your Stripe balance in a period: your revenue — the total volume of payments collected — minus your costs. Those costs are Stripe's fees, the Climbo fee if your Climbo agency plan carries one, and any refunds you issued. Revenue minus fees minus refunds gives you the net amount that is actually yours and gets paid out.
What to Use It For
This is the report to hand your accountant when they ask what your platform actually earned in a period, because it separates gross volume from the deductions. It is also the quickest way to see how much of your revenue is being absorbed by fees and refunds.
Payout Reconciliation
Matching Bank Deposits to Payments
The Payout reconciliation report covers the same movements as the Balance report, but organized around your payouts. It lets you take a single deposit that arrived in your bank account or on your debit card and see exactly which payments, refunds and fees make it up.
What to Use It For
Use it when a payout amount doesn't look like what you expected, or when your bookkeeping needs each bank line matched to the underlying client payments.
Working with the Reports
Both Panels Are Stripe's
Like the rest of the Accounting page, these two tabs are Stripe components embedded in your platform. The period selection and download controls belong to Stripe, and the figures come straight from Stripe: Climbo doesn't recalculate them or keep its own copy.
Where the Live Numbers Are Instead
These reports are for reconciliation after the fact. For current figures, use Sales, which shows your Stripe balance, your gross and net volume over the last 7 days, 30 days, 3 months or year, and your individual payments. For the payouts themselves, use Settings > Payouts (see the Monitor Payouts article).
Sending Your Figures to Your Accounting Software
Xero and QuickBooks
The last two tabs of the Accounting page are apps that push the same Stripe data into the accounting software you already use, so you don't have to re-enter it. They sit here because that is what they are — accounting. Both are reserved for the Owner: an Admin sees the first four tabs only. There is no separate Apps entry in the settings sidebar.
- Xero — "Send your payments, fees, payouts and refunds straight into your Xero bank feed, in real time. Off-Stripe payments such as cash or cheque come across too, so your books reconcile without manual work. Free for all users."
- QuickBooks — "Sync sales, fees, payouts, refunds, invoices, customers, products and taxes with QuickBooks Online. Choose real-time syncing per transaction, or a daily summary if you handle large volumes. Free tier available."
Installing One
Each tab shows the app's description with its install button at the top right. Installing adds the app to your connected Stripe account; the app's own configuration panel then appears underneath the description, and that's where you sign in to Xero or QuickBooks and choose what to sync. Authorizing the connection takes you to the app provider and brings you back to this tab afterward.
Who Handles the Connection
"The connection is handled by Stripe and the app provider: we never see or store your accounting credentials. You can uninstall the app at any time from this page." If a tab can't open its session you'll see "We couldn't load this app right now. Please refresh the page, and if it keeps happening get in touch with support." instead of a spinner that never stops.
