Climbo offers public API documentation for both Agency Mode and Client Mode. This article covers where to find it, how to authenticate, the IDs you'll need, and the rate limits.
API Documentation
Where the Docs Live
The Agency Mode API docs live at doc.climbo.com, and the API Documentation button in Settings > API takes you straight there. The Client Mode API docs live at doc.mysaas.site — an unbranded site, which means you can forward it directly to your own clients without them ever seeing Climbo's name. Your clients also reach it themselves from Settings > Automate in their platform.
Two Separate APIs
The two sets of docs describe two separate APIs. The Agency Mode API is about running your agency: creating clients, listing them, changing a client's status or plan, deleting a client, reading your plans and your charges, fetching your branding, and managing webhook subscriptions. The Client Mode API is about the day-to-day work inside a single client: their locations and business profile, opening hours and services, connected review sites, sending review invitations, reading and replying to reviews and private feedback, contacts, message templates, campaigns and employees.
Authentication
Your API Key
Every API call authenticates with an API key, sent as a request header named x-api-key. You'll find your agency key in Settings > API, masked and ready to copy. Your clients find theirs the same way, from Settings > Automate in their own platform. The base address is api.climbo.com for the Agency Mode API and api.mysaas.site for the Client Mode API.
Two Kinds of Key
Your agency key works across the whole Agency Mode API and can act on any of your clients. A client's key is tied to that one client and can't reach another, no matter what it asks for — which is what makes it safe to hand a client their own key.
Keys Can't Be Regenerated
A key is created the first time it's needed and then stays the same: there's no way to rotate or revoke it from the platform. Treat it like a password — anyone holding it has the same access you do. If a key is ever exposed, contact support rather than assuming you can replace it yourself.
Who Can See the Key
The API page is available only to an Owner: an Admin doesn't see the API entry in the settings sidebar at all, and neither do Staff or Sales users. Your own Climbo agency plan no longer matters — the key is there to copy on a free plan too, with no upgrade prompt in the way. For your clients, API and Zapier access still depends on Automation Features being enabled on their plan.
The IDs You'll Need
Which IDs Exist
Making API calls also requires the relevant IDs:
- Your Agency ID — the ID of your own agency account.
- A Business ID for each of your clients.
- A Location ID for each location a client has added (clients can have more than one).
- A Plan ID for each paid plan you create.
Where to Find Them
All of these are listed in Settings > API: your agency ID under Your Agency ID, and under Clients' IDs one card per client with their email, business ID, plan ID and the ID of each location. Everything is copyable with one click, and the list loads more clients as you scroll.
Limits and Errors
Rate Limits
Calls are capped per hour: 1,000 for a client's own key, 2,000 for your agency key when it's working on a specific client, and 5,000 for your agency key on everything else. Go over and the call comes back with status 429 and the message "Too many requests", together with headers telling you the limit and how many seconds until it resets.
When Calls Are Refused
A missing or malformed key is rejected immediately. Calls are also refused when the subscription behind the key isn't active: your agency subscription for your key, the client's subscription for theirs. This returns a subscription error rather than an authentication error, and it's usually why a key that worked yesterday stops working today.
