This article covers everything specific to paid plans: the Price tab, where you decide what clients pay and how they check out, plus payment links, editing and deleting. Paid plans require a connected Stripe account.
Before You Start
Requirements
You need Stripe connected and onboarded (see the Connect Stripe article), and your Stripe account must be able to accept card payments. Otherwise, creating a plan shows "Complete the required actions on Revenues section to create plans" — despite the wording, what Stripe still needs from you is listed in Settings > Profile (see the Stripe Profile article).
You can have up to 10 paid plans; trying to create an eleventh shows "You cannot have more than 10 Stripe plans". Only an Owner or an Admin can create, edit or delete paid plans.
Choosing a Currency
Plan Currency
First, choose the currency of the plan's prices in Select currency (the default is USD). The currency is fixed once the plan is created, and any price you add later uses it too. In the billing portal, clients can only switch to plans priced in their own currency (see the Client Billing article), so keep plans that clients may move between in the same currency.
Free Trials
Turning a Trial On
In the Free Trial section, switch on Active and set the Days, from 1 to 90. With a trial, clients who sign up through the payment link don't pay immediately: billing starts when the trial ends.
Payment Method Required
You also decide whether a payment method is needed to start the trial:
- Requiring a payment method means the client enters a card at checkout. It makes conversion more likely, since at the end of the trial they'd have to actively remove the card to avoid being charged.
- Not requiring a payment method lets clients start the trial without a card. They can add one at any time during the trial, and billing starts automatically when it ends. If the trial ends with no payment method, the subscription goes into Paused and the client is locked out until they add one from the billing portal.
The Free Trials Upgrade article covers what happens at the end of a trial in detail. Clients in a trial use the plan's Trial Limits (see the Plan Limits article).
Choosing a Pricing Model
Price per Location
The client pays the price once for each location. At checkout they can choose how many locations to pay for (from 1 to 999), and later they can raise or lower that quantity from the billing portal, then add the extra locations from Settings > Locations.
Package Price
You set in Locations how many locations the price covers (at least 2), and the client pays the same flat monthly or yearly price for that bundle. The quantity can't be changed at checkout or in the billing portal: to go beyond the package, the client switches to a plan with a bigger one.
Monthly and Yearly Pricing
Adding Prices
A new plan starts with a Monthly amount field. Click New Price to add a Yearly amount as well, or remove the monthly one to sell yearly only — a plan needs at least one price. Each price gets its own payment link, which you can share or embed separately.
Minimum Price
The minimum is "$9 per month or $90 per year, or the equivalent amount in your selected currency". With Price per Location, this applies to the price of a single location.
Other Options
Disable from billing portal
Hides the plan from the list clients can switch to, both in their billing portal and in their Billing section. The only way to join a hidden plan is through a payment link you send privately. At least one paid plan must stay available in the portal: if you try to hide the last one, you'll see "At least one plan must be available in your clients' billing portal".
Tax Options
- Include tax in price decides whether the amount you enter already contains tax or has tax added on top. It's locked once the plan is created.
- Show taxes at checkout turns on tax calculation at checkout. Taxes only appear once you've added your tax registrations — see the Tax Management article.
- Tax ID collection lets business clients enter their tax or VAT number at checkout, so it appears on their invoices.
Allow coupons
Adds a promotion code field to the checkout and lets clients on this plan apply a coupon from their Billing section. See the Apply Coupons article.
The Payment Link
Where to Find It
After you click Create, the plan's card shows one row per price — for example "Monthly price per location" or "Monthly price for 5 locations" — with the amount, an icon to open the Payment link and one to copy it (Copy payment link).
Selling With Payment Links
We recommend creating three plans — for example Bronze, Silver and Gold — and adding a pricing section to your website with a button linking to each plan's payment link, so clients can sign up on their own. The payment link is the only way clients can subscribe to a paid plan.
What Happens After Checkout
When a client completes the checkout, with or without a free trial, they're redirected to your platform to set their password and start onboarding, and their card appears in the Clients section with the plan already attached. If your Climbo agency plan includes a Climbo fee, it's taken automatically as a percentage of each payment (see the Manage Payments article).
Editing and Deleting a Paid Plan
What You Can Still Change
You can edit the name, color, integrations, features, limits, free trial settings and the other options at any time, and existing clients get feature and limit changes automatically. Changes to the trial, taxes at checkout, tax ID collection and coupons are applied to the plan's payment links.
What's Locked
Prices can't be changed after creation — existing amounts show "This pricing cannot be edited after creation". The currency, the pricing model, the package size and Include tax in price are locked too. You can still add the missing monthly or yearly price with New Price, which creates a new payment link. To change a price, create a new plan and hide the old one from the billing portal.
Deleting
Click Delete in the editor, tick "I understand that this action cannot be undone." and confirm. The plan is archived in your Stripe account and removed from your plans and from the billing portal.
You can't delete a plan that still has client subscriptions ("This plan cannot be deleted while it has active customers"), or the only plan left in your clients' billing portal.
