Monitor Payouts

A payout is Stripe moving money from your Stripe balance to your bank account or debit card. Payouts are automatic, so this article focuses on where to monitor them and how to change where they're sent.

Where to Find Your Payouts

Settings > Payouts

Payouts live at Settings > Payouts, in the Finance group of the settings sidebar, not on the Sales page. The page is Stripe's own payouts view embedded in your platform: it shows past payouts with their details and amounts, and when the next one is due.

Who Can Open It

Like the rest of the Finance group, Payouts is open to an Owner or an Admin and appears once Stripe onboarding is complete (see the Connect Stripe article).

How Payouts Work

Automatic, Weekly, Net

When clients pay through Stripe, the money first goes into your Stripe balance. Every week, Stripe automatically sends a payout to your connected bank account, after subtracting its fees and any refunds you've issued. There is nothing to trigger or approve.

Changing Where Payouts Are Sent

Go Through Settings > Profile

To change your payout destination, go to Settings > Profile, also in the Finance group. Because it holds sensitive Stripe data, you first confirm a code sent to the phone number linked to your Stripe account. You can then update or add the bank account or debit card your payouts are sent to.

Scroll to the payout details: next to your current payout method you'll find the option to add a new one. You can keep more than one and choose the default. The Stripe Profile article covers this page in detail.

Currency Follows the Account

Your default currency follows your default payout account. Add an account in a different currency and set it as default, and you'll receive payouts in that currency instead — see the Stripe Profile article.

Reconciling Payouts Against Your Books

The Payout Reconciliation Report

Settings > Accounting has a Payout reconciliation tab that ties your monthly volume, fees and refunds to the payouts that actually landed in your bank, and a Balance report tab for the balance movements behind them. Use these rather than the Payouts page when you need numbers for your accountant.

If Stripe Needs Something From You

Watch for the Notice on Your Profile

Stripe periodically needs more information about your business to keep the account in good standing. When it does, a colored dot appears next to Sales in the top menu, and the notice itself — with what's missing and how to provide it — appears at the top of Settings > Profile. Handle it there promptly: an account with outstanding requirements is the usual reason payouts stop arriving.
