Client Onboarding

The first time clients log in, they go through a short onboarding of up to three steps before landing in the platform. This article walks through each step so you know what your clients see.

Step 1: Set a Password

Set your Password

If the client doesn't have a password yet, this is the first step. Only clients who signed up for a free plan through the sign-up link already have one, because the sign-up form asks for it, so they skip straight to the next step.

Everyone else — clients who signed up through a paid plan's payment link, or free clients you added manually and sent a welcome email or invite link — sets a password first. Clients can always change their password later from Settings > Account, using the Password and Confirm Password fields.

Step 2: Add the First Business

Add your first business

The second step asks for one thing only: the name of the business, typed into a single field ("Enter location name..."). The client confirms and moves on. Everything else about the location — the address, the photo, the Google data — is filled in automatically in the next step, when Google is connected.

This step creates the client's first location. If they run several locations, they add the others later from Settings > Locations, within the location limit their plan allows.

Step 3: Connect Google (Optional)

Connect Google

The last step is connecting a Google Business Profile. It's optional — the client can click Skip and enter the platform without it — but they should connect soon after, since most features only activate once Google is connected. That's why this step is part of onboarding.

Connecting With a Google Login

Clicking Connect opens the Connect Google dialog. On the Google Login tab, the client clicks Sign in with Google and logs in with the Google account that manages the Google Business Profile. If the pop-up doesn't appear, they need to allow pop-ups from the browser's address bar (this only needs to be done once). After logging in, they select their Google account and then the specific location, and confirm. The location's data is pulled in and onboarding is complete.

Connecting Without a Google Login

The same dialog has a second tab, Google Public Access, where the client simply searches for their business by name and selects it. It's a fallback when a Google login isn't possible, and it comes with real limits: no replying to reviews, no Profile feature, and only the 10 most recent reviews are fetched each day. Anything more requires the Google Login route.

If the Profile Isn't Verified

If the business hasn't been verified on Google yet, the client sees a dialog saying so, with a button to Open Google Business Profile. They need to complete Google's verification there and come back to finish onboarding.

What Happens Next

Landing in the Platform

Once Google is confirmed — or skipped — onboarding is complete and the client lands in the platform. On your side, their card in the Clients section stops showing the placeholder name and starts showing the real business name, the number of locations added, and the address.
